 Miloš Vušković Retrospective

Miloš Vušković (1900-1975) was an eminent Montenegrin painter, sculptor, illustrator, caricaturist and professor of visual arts, member of  ULUCG (Association of the Visual Artists of Montenegro). More than 300 of his works are held by the Art Museum of Montenegro.

 

Vušković was co-founder of satirical magazine "Ošišani jež", in cooperation with Pier Križanić, Branislav Nušić, Stanislav Vinaver and a number of other famous artists of different profiles and interests.

 

Before World War II Vušković worked in Pancevo and Belgrade, where he completed a number of portraits and other compositions, and later moved to Montenegro, where he occupied the position of the director of the Art School in Herceg Novi and the Modern Gallery in Cetinje.

He had several solo exhibitions, and collective exhibitions with famous names of the Montenegrin and Yugoslav art scene.

Vušković was member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Art, and holder of prestigious professional awards

Retrospective of Mihajlo Vukotić

 .

Mihajlo Vukotić (1904 - 1944) was Montenegrin painter born in village Čevo (near Cetinje), where he attended elementary school. In Cetinje finished lower level high school and began to develop the artistic sensibility. He tried to continue education at Merchant Academy In Dubrovnik , but remained there only one year. His desire to learn painting drew him to the other side.  Vukotić went later to Belgrade and lived  in poverty.

 

The artist also obtained the state scholarship, but he lost it in 1927 after his stay in Paris . 

 

During the war the artist worked a little. In this period disappeared a significant number of his works. Vukotić died of tuberculosis in 1944.

He was a painter of a special sensibility. An entire wing of the permanent exhibition of Montenegrin National Galery is dedicated to Vukotić's works.
